Business Not as Usual

In an economy where every dime matters it’s extremely important to know where every cent of your money is going. Having the right kind of accounting software in use is very important for your business and your livelihood. Too many businesses use a product that either has too many features or not enough features for the type of business they own. If there aren’t enough tools you may be losing money. Likewise, if there are too many features associated with the program they are using you are throwing away money on something you don’t need.

Finding the right kind of software is as easy as doing a little research online. The most popular types, such asQuickbooks, have different levels of software and often can be fitted to your needs. This type of software is quite easy to use and has excellent tutorials to guide you through the process. Many small businesses use this type of accounting computer software because they don’t need an accounting degree to understand how it works. It does what any small business needs; keeps up with bills, invoices, payroll, banking, and several other features for small business.

Larger businesses that tend to have a large number of employees should use a software program more suited for larger businesses. The Peachtree Accounting program has been used quite often and is a complete program that will continue to grow along with the business. This may be a bit more difficult for the lay person to understand but there are excellent help sites that will be beneficial to the person responsible for using the software. This program has been the software of choice for quite some time for many medium to large small businesses because of its capacity to grow along with the business.

Running a business in times like these when the economy is so rocky you must protect your investment as well as you can. Keeping excellent accounting records is key to spotting problems before they get out of hand. Keeping track of payroll with easy to use payroll software makes payday a breeze and it keeps track of all the data the IRS will need come April. The user friendly software makes it very easy for just about anybody to use as all you have to do is enter in the amount of pay per hour and enter the W-2 information and the pay is calculated automatically. It doesn’t get easier than that and that’s important for any business today.

Taking Care of Business

When the factory I worked at for the over 15 years closed two years ago I had no idea what I was going to do for a job. I didn’t have a college degree and had little training in anything except what I was doing at the factory. I knew I had to find a skill that could be utilized in the business world in which I could use to get my foot in the door. I decided I would get some training in accounting software such as Quickbooks, in order to get a job with a firm doing accounting work or payroll work. I had no idea how far this training was going to take me.

I began taking classes at a vocational school and quickly got the hang of using the accounting software programs the school was using. After receiving my certificate in one class I decided to keep on going and learn as much as I could. I got certificates of Microsoft Office, Excel, MAS90 software, and learned the fine details of doing payroll accounting.

After 18 months of school I received a host of certificates on the most updated accounting software programs available. I typed up my resume and began applying at many different companies. It didn’t take long before I was called in for an interview and then offered a full time position for a rather large company that employee over 500 people. I started out making more money than what I had made at the factory where I had worked for 15 years. Taking classes changed my life and landed me an excellent job as well as gave me top notch skills that will always be in demand.

Every business, no matter what it is, needs somebody to do payroll or accounting work. Learning the most update business tools is a necessity if you want to find work as an accountant or payroll clerk. The software used in today’s offices is very specialized for the job it needs to do and learning that software is actually quite easy. I know if I can do it anybody can. When I was in high school we didn’t have access to computer education like kids do today so I was really out of the loop as far as computer knowledge goes. But I was able to catch on quick and the software I was trained on was very easy to understand and use. I’m thankful to have this skill because I know I will never be out of work again.
